Barcelona midfielder Xavi has joined Barca Chief Joan Laporta in his praise for Celtic and the support it enjoys. Speaking ahead of tomorrow night’s tie the midfield maestro said, “It’s a great honour and gives me a lot of satisfaction to play in a stadium like Celtic Park in front of Celtic's support. My last experiences were incredible. The fans are really passionate but, at the same time, well-behaved, and that makes it a pleasure to play in front of them. I'm looking forward to experiencing that again.”
“My main memory of playing at Celtic Park was how the fans never stopped encouraging their team from start to finish. Also, the entire crowd singing as we came out the tunnel. The pitch was in excellent condition and both matches were lively and exciting.”
He then went on to speak about the special atmosphere that is only apparent in paradise, “It's a very special atmosphere you have there, very different from any other club. British grounds in general have their very own feel, but at Celtic Park it is particularly special.
It certainly is mate, and tomorrow night will be even more special due to the buzz generated by playing a team that can also be described as “more than just a football Club”
Meanwhile Xavi’s teammate Lionel Messi has identified Aiden McGeady as a major threat to Barcelona’s hope of progression to the next round. Speaking to the Daily Record Messi said, "Aiden McGeady is a fast and skilful winger and someone I rate highly," Messi said.
"We will have to be very careful with him because his movement can be special and he has a great ability to appear in goalscoring positions out of the blue.
"I really like the way he plays football. He is a natural talent, who can create a brilliant piece of play in the blink of an eye and I can assure you our defenders will be paying very close attention to him."
We really like the way he plays football too!
Yours in Celtic
