Willo Flood has today defended Celtic's failure to take maximum points from the recent trip to Tannadice - insisting instead that Celtic should view this as one point won rather than two dropped.

Despite the disappointment felt by all Celtic fans regarding the missed opportunity to put daylight between ourselves and Watties Wallopers there are many among the support that are happy in the fact that we did not have our lead cut to two points.

One such person is Willo Flood, who today reminded the support that we are still very much in pole position.

We are in a strong position," said the former United midfielder Flood, who came off the bench to make his second Celtic appearance.

"I'm sure if you asked Rangers, they would love to be in our shoes. Once we start killing games off, the wins will come.

"We played well in the first half, had a bad 10 minutes after half-time but then we controlled the game. I know how dangerous United are, especially at home. This is one of the toughest places to go.

"It was probably a point gained because we were 2-1 down. When it's the first half and we're a goal up and playing really well, you think we should go on and win. We got the equaliser but we needed a few more minutes to get a third goal. We were the only team looking for a winner.

"Rangers dropping points does take a little pressure off but we don't worry about them. We just need to concentrate on ourselves. If we take the stuff we're doing in training on to the pitch, then we'll pick up wins."

Flood, like many fans, was quick to congratulate his former employers in the way they have went about their business this season, as Levein's side are a hard team to beat as results this season have proven.

Flood said: "United are good enough to finish third or fourth. I have my fingers crossed for them. I'm sure that when Rangers come here, United will make it tough.

"Every time you come to Tannadice and they get a free-kick or corner, they're dangerous."

Flood was also happy to finally get involved. After being Cup Tied in the Cup Final and the recent performances of the other midfielders kept him out the side Willo was happy to get some first team action.

It's been a nightmare," he said. "I have been training and there has been no game to look forward to so I was happy to be back. I will just keep working hard and hopefully do my best when I get on the park."

Yours in Celtic
