Weekly Review

Last week's headlines were the Hampden gubbing of Scotland at the hands of Hungary, and Celtic's win over Inverness Caledonian Thistle at Pittordrie.

Early last week, all the newspaper talk concerning Celtic was of Juninho. His agent was in every tabloid, and seemed to be giving them all a different version of what was actually happening.

Hungary visited Scotland at Hampden for a friendly match, where Celtic goalkeeper David Marshall received his first cap. It was to be an off night for the Scottish side, losing 3-0 to a team over 50 places behind Scotland in UEFA's World Rankings. Marshall was credited with scoring an own goal but made two saves to turn potential humiliation into only embarrassment.

Juninho was pictured at Celtic Park telling reporters that he has 'nearly' signed for Celtic. The next day his agent was claiming the deal was almost done and he would be a Celtic player in the next few days.

Reports on Saturday claimed that Chris Sutton would miss our Sunday trip to face Inverness, and that the big striker would miss the Old Firm game next week. This was confirmed today.

Lennon v Juanjo
And so to Sunday's game. Around 6,000 Celtic fans made the trip to Pittordrie and a great time was had by all. Celts ran out 3-1 winners but the talking point of the game was the exchange of handbags between Neil Lennon and Juanjo - who was ordered off during the proceedings. As I said before, perhaps a yellow card each would have been a suitable outcome but Neil Lennon must learn to control his temper. If he had been red carded yesterday he would be out of next week's game. He must learn to rise above the provocation, something which he usually excells in doing.

This week we play Rangers at Celtic Park, in the first Old Firm encounter of the season. For many, it will be our first time seeing Rangers since last season and I don't think anyone will argue they will be a more improved side from last season. However, so are we, and we should be confident going into the game, no matter what our injury worries are. There is no point in worrying about who is not playing - we should be encouraging the players who are.

An update on the banner is that it should be ready by the end of the week and we would like to have it on display on Sunday.

Have a good week.

Hail Hail!
