Wee Deek is shouting his mouth off yet again

Derek Riordan has again been shouting his mouth off to anyone who will listen regarding his lack of first team action and his plans to solve it.

Speaking to the Daily Record the player said, "I don't want a season like my last so I want it sorted out. With the likes of Steven Naismith being linked to Celtic, it puts pressure on me.

I have to make some sort of decision before the transfer window shuts."

I have a little sympathy for the player; he undoubtedly has talent, whether or not he is capable of being an out and out striker as part of a front two pairing is yet to be seen. And whether he deserves to oust McGeady from the left mid berth is a matter for debate.

However this continual bleeting to the press regarding this situation has brought myself and many other fans to the end of their tether with the player, and for many this latest outburst will be the straw that broke the camels back so far as Derek is concerned.

The old maxim of "no-one is bigger than the football club" applies here, Deek was an exciting talent with a (no disrespect hibees) provincial club and should be happy at the progress he has made over the season in adapting to life at a bigger club.

The irony of this entire situation is that Derek is probably at the top of the pecking order to partner JvoH next season, and had he kept his mouth shut he would probably have started a lot of games this season. Who knows maybe Strachan will allow Deek this final transgression and keep him in his plans, but one would think that this final show of petulance would have tried the manager’s patience too far.

Whatever happens, Derek should realise that he will get little or no sympathy from the Celtic support for continually airing what he perceives to be his dirty laundry in public. This is not Rankgers Laundry where players can publicly fall out with managers and get what they want!

Yours in Celtic
