 Diomansy Kamara is looking to generate an added bit of tension to Tuesday's final Old Firm derby of the season by saying he plans to shut rival Nacho Novo up. Rangers' Novo started the verbals after his side had won the SPL title for the second time in a row. The Spaniard accusing the Hoops of blaming "everyone but themselves" for their most miserable seasons in recent memory. Novo also blasted ousted Celtic boss Tony Mowbray for his criticism of Ibrox counterpart Walter Smith's 'negative' tactics. Kamara claimed Novo was running to the media with sound bites as he is looking to get an offer to stay at Ibrox after his current deal ends this summer.Kamara said: "It is not good to talk like that. Rangers deserve to be champions this year but it is always nice to be gracious. Novo is not playing, he is always on the bench, so maybe he is speaking like this because he wants a new contract. Rangers are a strong team who have only lost two league games this season. "We haven't beaten them yet but Tuesday is a big chance to prove ourselves. An 11-point gap between Rangers and Celtic is too much and we want to close that. We also want to show a reaction to Novo and maybe then he can be quiet. We will see what happens." Meanwhile, interim manager Neil Lennon admits the Old Firm game will effectively be a 90-minute job interview. The board have yet to decide who will be in permanent charge of the side for next season and extending his winning streak to include a win over Rangers, his first derby in charge, would boost Lennon's chances. The Irishman said: "Old Firm games define you and everybody is looking into this one,. I think it is a bit unfair really, to say that if I win the game I get the job and if I don't I will not get the job. I think I should be judged over the piece really, not just over one game. But that is the situation I am in, and I accept that." |
