Venus Confident as Loovens Appeal Begins to Look Sinister.

As I type this story about the mystery surrounding Glenn Loovens fate for an offence that occurred some 5 months ago I cant help but feel that there is an air of inevitability about the entire situation.

It is with quasi-expectancy that I would hope that the reason why the Scottish Football Association has ignored the fact that they require to hold a hearing. However I can't help but think that this script is not only written, but it has been read and understood.

One person who does have every faith in the system to do the right thing is Celtic Assistant Manager Mark Venus. The Boss's right hand man has every confidence in the beaks to do the right thing. However whilst Mark is positive about the situation he can see a negative aspect.

"The indecision with the appeal doesn't do the manager's long-term plans any favours, I'd suggest."

And he added: "I believe we have actually offered some dates to the panel about the hearing but as yet we haven't come together to get the right day.

That paragraph does little to allay the fears already mentioned above. The very fact that Celtic have made every effort to resolve this matter could mean we have another mini-farrygate to contend with.

"It has run for a while now and we have a lot of fixtures coming up. Venus continued.

"To benefit all parties - clubs, players, press, and the SPL - the quicker, the better.

"If they can get together as quickly as possible when the appeal comes in and deal with it, as they do with other things, on the same day or the Monday or Tuesday, then I think everyone would prefer that."

d"Surely you would need a bit of time to put your appeal together?" he said.

"We did appeal weeks ago so you would like to think you would get the courtesy of getting a bit of notice as to when the date is suitable for both parties."

However it would appear that the SFA are to do the right thing, as the following statement from an SFA spokesman

He said: "It is not just SFA personnel involved in collating this meeting, there is a representative from the players' union and an independent chair of the disciplinary appeals tribunal.

"Celtic have suggested some dates but it has been difficult because they have been involved in European games.

"So there are still no dates for the appeal but it would be unlikely to be before the Old Firm game."

Such is my suspicion of all things SFA related however, I will wait till the Ibrox game has passed and Big Glenn is available for selection before I can trust anything that the SFA says.

Yours in Celtic
