Trialist Alassane Hopefull of Deal as Celts Get Russian Team in Champions League Qualifiers

Celtic were today drawn against Dinamo Moscow in the Third round of the Champions League Qualifiers. The famous Russian team have failed in recent years to preserve the fine European reputation that they had collected during their glory days of the 50s and 60s.

Their finest hour to date in Europe was reaching the Final of the Cup Winners Cup in 1972 when Rangers fans invaded the pitch with 5 mins to go after the Muscovites had managed to reduce a three goal deficit to a solitary goal and were indeed on the ascendancy.

One player who would be looking to join Celtic on the trip to Moscow, which will take place in late July/early August is Mauritius born Amadou Alassane who joined the club today on a week's trial. Alassane scored an impressive 20 goals last season for the Ligue 1 strugglers and is a firm fans favourite in the Stade Jules Deshaseaux. He has earned the nickname "Ferizimo" meaning "The Warrior" for his all out approach to football.

The player had this to say

"I am in Scotland to begin a trial with Celtic," said Alassane, who moved to Le Havre in 2006 from the amateur ranks.

"It's a fantastic opportunity for me to show a great club what I can do and I want to leave here with no regrets."

Yours in Celtic
