Transfer Targets Updated. Loovens is Second Choice to Madlung.

It has been stated in today's Glasgow Herald that Celtic are closing in on Wolfsburg's German International Centre half Alexander Madlung.

The 26 year-old who is bound to had been a target for Roy Keane at Sunderland, but the conqueror of Michelle McManus Darryl Broadfoot claims that Celtic has already made contact with the Bundesliga Club. It would appear that the lure of Champions League Football may be enough to bring the defender to Scotland.

Darryl also states in his article today that Celtic's bid to bring Dutch Centre Back and Rangers target Glenn Loovens to Glasgow from Cardiff is in case we fail in our bid to lure Madlung to Paradise! This is no doubt going to rile the even-more-permaraging-than-normal Rangers supporters, who, led by their leader Darth Edgar have dominated the comic strip pages of the gutter press this week. Long may it continue!

And finally, the Daily Record is today reporting that Bobo Balde has knocked back a deal to take him to Wolves and ran with the following quote from a 'senior Celtic source':-

Bobo's attitude is outrageous. Gordon Strachan cannot believe that he's turned down an offer as big as the one that Wolves have put together.

"It seems the guy is just not interested in playing football but if he thinks Peter Lawwell will cave in and give him a year's money to go then he has another thing coming.

"It looks like he'll spend another year sitting around doing nothing and letting his career go down the pan."

If this is the case and Bobo is holding out in an attempt to get a pay-off from Celtic then I hope that the Club do keep him in the reserves rather than pay out his contract in a lump sum but one wonders why a 'senior Celtic source' would make a comment on this situation?

I smell Scheidt!

Yours in Celtic
