Top of the League! Samaras Fires Celts into Pole Position

Thank feck for that!

Celtic are this morning back at the top of the SPL table after a 1-0 victory over Aberdeen at Parkhead. It was an largely uninspiring affair with Celtic having the majority of possession only to see poor passing or even worse decision making halt progress throughout the pitch.

Celtic started the brighter of the two sides but it was Aberdeen who had the first real chance of the match. Artur Boruc was relieved to see the shot cannon off both posts and into his arms.

Celtic pressed for an opening with Aberdeen showing Celtic into areas that they didn't want to be in and the majority of possession counted for nothing as the teams went into half time level.

Celtic were forced into a change at half time when Paul Caddis came on to replace the injured Andreas Hinkel who was forced to retire due to a hamstring pull. Celtic continued to press the Dons defence until Barry Robson fired an Alan Thomson-esque free kick onto the head of Georgios Samaras and the Big Greek player fired it in with great aplomb.

Both Celtic and Aberdeen had goals chopped off in the later stages as panic started to descend into the home team and Aberdeen sensed an equaliser but it was not to be.

Mon the Hoops!

Yours in Celtic
