Thompson Appeal Rejected

The SFA were today guilty of serious double standards, when they rejected Celtic's appeal over Alan Thompson's red card at Ibrox last week. When you look at Nacho Novo's successful appeal at Hibs a fortnight ago, and Juanjo getting his red card overturned earlier in the season, it is disgraceful that they have thrown out Thompson's appeal.

He will now be banned for Sunday's visit to Dens Park.

Fair enough, the appeal has been rejected, probably because the intent was there. Yes, he did make contact but so did Juanjo against Neil Lennon in August, and wasn't the intent there when Nacho Novo lashed out at a Hibs player two weeks ago? Both these red cards were turned into yellows, and the SFA have today shown themselves up for what they truly are. Thompson was never guilty of violent conduct and the red card should have been dropped to a yellow.

Hopefully now, Alan Thompson will take a look at himself and realise that he does us no good sitting in the stand. He must cut out his attitude problem and concentrate on playing football. Too many times has he picked up silly bookings, red cards and suspensions.

So well done Peter Lovenkrands, I hope you are happy. Oh and by the way, the SFA will also take no action against his blatant cheating after Thompson breathed upon him.

Incidents involving Henri Camara and Nacho Novo have both been referred to the SFA Video Review Panel, and both look to be in for three match bans. Though Novo will probably get away with it, won't he? And Camara's ban will be doubled, with Celtic deducted three SPL points, making Rangers top of the league.

That decision will be made on December 14th.
