The Tuesday morning view from the gutter

Last updated : 01 May 2007 By Clydebuilt

As I raise my weary head out of the gutter after a few days hard partying I read the morning 'news' and realise that nothing is new. Manager with a touchline ban, ambiguous comments from one of our players' agents and big Amaloser puts his foot in it once more.

First of all news that Strachans touchline ban may carry over into the Scottish Cup Final have not been well received. Strachan faces a maximum 4 game ban that would see him unable to lead out the team in this seasons glamour tie against the mighty Dunfermline.

Since this is the second time this season that Gordon has been banished to the stand (against Hearts at Tyncecastle) WGS will probably receive the full match ban.

Remember that trip to Tynecastle? When that big Maroon Balloon who's name escapes us (John McGlynn) squared up to our favourite Gordon and the latter received a 2 match ban just for having the cheek to stand and take abuse from a fat balding middle-aged man?

Well that will be taken into consideration in this case. I have to ask though just how is a Manager supposed to react when an out and out cheat runs into a centre half and goes down like a hooker with a spring neck?

Gordon has earned his right to lead his team out into Hampden on the 26th May and I hope the SFA don't take that away from him. Albeit he will look like a hobbit in a hire costume he still deserves to walk out in all his button-holed finery!

On a more ambiguous note, Thomas "Ive just bought a 500K house in Thorntonhall" Gravesens agent has made the most ambiguous comment since the Chairman's Fiscal Report in the last Rangers AGM. Speaking to the Daily Record, John Sivabaek said ""Thomas has two years left on his deal at his current club. That's all I can say about his situation.

"There has been no clarified contact at this stage. At least certainly not that I'm aware of."

Thanks for the reassurance John. We wonder what the question that inspired that response was?

It would appear that Rangers have decided to troop out Lorenzo Amoruso as the poster boy in their latest anti-sectarian drive (drive? Would that euphemism not be more apt if it were something slower? For example a jog or maybe even a walk?)

I would appear that at first glance the first RC Captain of RFC is an decent candidate to be the poster boy for the campaign. (even South Africa had a Black President sooner than Rangers had a Catholic Captain)!

It should be remembered however, that big Bailey's command of English and the rudiments there of maybe don't equate themselves well to such a subtle subject as sectarianism!

I will leave you with this little quote from the former Captain.

"The fans were brilliant with me but it was crazy that they would sing my name one minute then sing against me."

More on this subject tomorrow

Yours in Celtic
