The Time is Nigh to Put Treble Talking Gers 'Stars' Back in Their Place

As Celtic face Rangers for in a Cup Final for the first time since 2003 the time has come to lay a few ghosts to rest. More important however is the massive psychological boost that will be afforded the victors of tomorrow's battle.

Rangers will fancy their chances; I can't blame them for that. If I were any team I would fancy my chances in a one off game against us such is our 'ability' to not turn up in certain big matches, however they do seem to be willing to shout their mouth off a little more than is clever before a Glasgow derby.

On the other hand Celtic are happy to quietly discuss issues relating to the chances of the game going to penalties, the state of the Hampden pitch and anything else that Gordon Strachan can pull out of the leftfield that is his media persona. Gone are the rally cries from underachieving players that only seek to inspire our rivals.

So whilst our friends from the South Side talk of trebles and fringe players stake a claim for a starting place in the media it would appear that for the first time for a while we are focusing for the match in a more professional way.

Despite the massive confidence boost that is on offer tomorrow there is the little matter of the potential to lift the first trophy of the season. Celtic have a less than glorious recent history in Finals against Rangers it has been too long since we have defeated them in a Cup Final. 20 years is too long for that type of record.

So it is in hope and expectation that we make our way to Hampden (I live two minutes away from my seat) to go and win the cup and put on a spectacle for the fans. We already know how Rangers will play tomorrow, we know that the pitch is in a fine shape after being re-laid so all we need to know now is how to go out and beat them.

Every fan in the world knows that we cannot beat them at their own game, so why drag ourselves down to their level? Let's play to OUR strengths, not revert to non-football.

Yours in Celtic
