The Holy Goalie Strikes Back!

Artur Boruc has had a hard time in recent months. Dropped from the Polish National side for breaking curfew, suffering domestic problems, being at fault for at least one of Rangers goals in the recent 4-2 home defeat have all seen the Polish player struggle in his own personal hell. Add to this the media witch hunt that sees Artur's every move scrutinised with front page attention whilst Racism and sectarian assault goes either unreported or gets mocked then it must have been hard to take for the affable 'keeper.

Artur stated "It's fair to say I had some bad luck, it was a really tough time. But I have certainly not lost my form."

It would appear now however that Artur has come through this tough patch relatively unscathed and more determined to succeed. This has been displayed recently by his performances against Villarreal and his wonder double save from a Hamilton penalty.

Artur first spoke out in relation to his mistakes against Scotland's Shame: "Everyone commits mistakes and I'm no different. I'm not a machine. Obviously, with what had happened, it was a bad time to make a mistake.

Artur also spoke found room to joke about the Rangers game and the price tag that was imposed on him last season. He said: "I don't know, £10million for a goalkeeper is still a lot of money. I even played badly against Rangers to try and get the price down! Although I guess it went back up again after the Villarreal match.
"The fact is I have no desire to leave Celtic and I have no regrets about being there." Artur continued

Boruc then took time to show remorse in relation to him being dropped from the Polish National team for two matches. He said: "It was probably an appropriate punishment. I am not ashamed - I can't say we behaved well, but the fuss was all so unnecessary. The problem is that so few people knew what actually happened in Lviv.

"We made a bad error of judgment, but the coach didn't have to come to Scotland to talk to me about it. We could have come up with the same answers after talking for three-and-a-half minutes as three-and-a-half hours. Boruc stated in response to stories in the Scottish press that the Polish Coach had jetted to Scotland to remonstrate with the Celtic Number 1.

"I am only thinking about the future."

Good news Artur, you are as valuable as any player in the squad at this time and with the Defence starting to show a little more form as a group than they have done in recent times then hopefully this will be a good base on which to finish the season as we started it, ie. Champions!

Yours in Celtic
