Take the time to get it right

Scott Brown will be heading south to see a specialist on Monday as the next step on his road to recovery. However, he insists he will not rush his comeback from a metatarsal problem. Brown is keen to get back in action but refused to put a definite date on any potential return. However, he did admit he was hoping to be involved in the Old Firm derby on 2 January. Brown said: "Hopefully I'm not too far away. I'll go down to see a specialist on Monday and we will take it from there. I'm still not too sure yet when I'll be back, I will need to wait and see what the specialist says. The main thing is that I need to take my time and make sure everything is perfect so that I can hopefully come back 100%."

Brown is well aware of recent results which have not gone the right way with Rangers enjoying a two point and a game in hand advantage. However, he backed his team-mates to turn around the fortunes without him for the time being. He went on: "I've got to take my time and make sure I come back right but the lads will bounce back. We've got a lot of character in the squad so I've no doubt they will bounce back." While Daniel Majstorovic accepted responsibility for the draw with Inverness on Saturday, Brown believes there should be a collective responsibility within the squad. He said: "It's the whole team. We went 2-0 up and then lost two slack goals but it doesn't happen a lot so I'm sure the lads will make things right next week."

Brown knows that even if fit, he will have a fight on his hands to get into the first team. He said: "Everyone has got to fight for their place. Ki (Sung-yeung) and Joe Ledley have played really well in the middle of the park so I've just got to wait my turn. It will take me a while to get the sharpness and fitness back so we will see how it goes from there."
