Strachan to change tactics for Europe

Last updated : 29 May 2006 By Dorset Tim
Gordon Strachan has been tinkering with his plans for next years champions league clashes and is intent on using his limited transfer kitty wisely. The way GS has been buying attacking players and bearing in mind those we already have Strachan is looking to a more mobile (and smaller in stature) attacking force.

Strachan thinks we dont need a big physical presence up front in every game although he will perhaps have that option on the bench. It is thought that John Hartson would not relish that roll but we cannot think of a similar player who is available for a reasonable price and who would be willing to join Celtic. Who knows?. there could be a big, bustling goalscorer that is lurking somewhere in Eastern Europe that Ray Clarke has already earmarked.

Strachan for now though would prefer Hartson to stay with us and carry on as before. Strachan is aware that a section of the support are unhappy with Hartsons movement, but his goalscoring record, speaks for itself and the recent interest in Graveson would certainly make Celtic a far more mobile team
