Strachan Plays Down League Advantage.

Celtic Manager has today stated that Celtic are by no means favourites to lift the SPL trophy and has quite rightly chosen to exercise a note of caution. Yes Celtic are currently 3 points clear and seven goals to the good but with Rangers having a game against the team with the worst record out of the entire top six the goal difference advantage could be overruled in their final two games.

Having said that though, the Ibrox team are hardly renowned for their attacking flair and massive goal scoring exploits so this is probably a step to far for The Forces of Darkness but it is still a possibility!

Not only that but the final game against Dundee UTD at Tannadice is hardly a forgone conclusion either so caution should be exercised.

The game against St Mirren is one that I would have expected them to win but now that it really is a must-win game after they dropped points to Motherwell the game suddenly has a greater edge to it, especially given the points superiority that they were able to enjoy after our month to forget in December.

People always say that what goes around comes around and the nightmare time we had to endure at Christmas is now being experienced by our not-so tolerant cousins from the South Side of Glasgow. I always find it funny to here them cry about fixture backlogs when we were forced to play 9 league games and two Champions league ties (both preceding tricky away games in the League) in a five week period. Surely this deems the fixture chaos excuse as a non-starter?

Speaking after yesterday's result at Fir Park the Celtic Manager said, "All we can do is keep playing, and if we get to the last game and have a chance we've done very well,"

So what are the possible permutations and outcomes that could occur over the next five days? Well quite simply for Rangers to win the League they must defeat both St Mirren and Aberdeen away from home and if Celtic do win at Tannadice Rangers must score at least seven goals more than we score at Tannadice if they are to win. Defeat in either of their last two matches and we will be left needing only a point to clinch 3-in-a-row! So it is with cautious optimism that we continue to enjoy watching their season unravel, and who knows maybe the malaise could continue in the Cup also!

In other news, it has been announced that Rangers are to play a friendly against Greater Manchester Police in an attempt to bring more goals and excitement into their play. The GMP are the only team that Rangers have attacked all season!

Yours in Celtic
