Strachan: My players aren't daft

Following Celtic's outstanding run of twelve straight victories in domestic competition it was highly unlikely that the Manager of the Month would go anywhere else and the Celts gaffer was very pleased "This award is all down to the players. Well done to them." he said "It's always nice to pick up awards like this and we're delighted. The players have done as much as we could have asked from them and I'm proud of the way they have handled this recent spell.

"This is a fantastic club to work for and I have a smashing bunch of lads. They are receptive to what we are trying to do and they all want to get better." continued Strachan "It's fantastic and the facilities at Lennoxtown are terrific. Look at the snow out there today and we still have a magnificent pitch to train on."

The Hoops boss denied that he could ever be happy with a seven point lead over his nearest rivals in the SPL "Am I comfortable? No. You can't be comfortable. I'm just happy to collect points and get each game out of the way." he said "We've won three championships and I think I've had one day of comfort each time before I start to worry about what is ahead. That's how long I give myself."

"The players aren't daft." added the manager "They don't need to be told about what you need to get through the season. They know you can have bad results. They know the dangers and they know that we have to deal with that. The only way you can do that is by winning games."

Strachan is looking forward to playing Hibs at Easter Road and he hopes it will be as good as the enthralling duel at Celtic Park earlier in the season when the Celts won 4-2. "We saw Hibs play well against us earlier this season. They have good players and it will be a good game." he said "It's always tight at Easter Road. There's never been a game when we could really relax. It's always intense. Sometimes we've won, sometimes we've lost. It will a hard game."
