SPL Title Race Heats Up On Cold Weekend.

Walter Smith decided to give Celtic fans an early Christmas present at the weekend by sending out a team so devoid of motivation, skill, grace and guile that they could not even manage a point against the Jambos! This early result at Tynecastle gave Celtic enough energy to lift them from an insipid performance and beat Inverness 1-0.

Shaun Maloney gets the on the day plaudits for scuffing the ball past the Keeper after he was played in by a perfectly timed and weighted pass from the ever excellent Shunsuke Nakamura.

This added to the result at Swinecastle means that Celtic sit comfortable at the top of the League 7 points clear of our oldest rivals who appear to be imploding at the moment. Cracked crests on standby? Not quite.

The final icing on the cake of what could almost be described as perfect is the news that Peter Lawwell has said that the moons will align perfectly enough in the January period to allow a rare sighting of the Celtic Park biscuit tin.

"Our first focus is to win the league and we will do whatever we can to make that happen," Lawwell said

"We have three domestic trophies to win. We want to win the SPL title to get us to four in a row and be back in the Champions League next year.

"To that end, in the short term, we will be doing as much as we can to support Gordon in January.

"We are looking at both quality and quantity. We have a track record of getting to a transfer window and coming out of it stronger."

I'm prepared to give the Lawwell the benefit of the doubt on this occasion, even though that speech sounds vaguely familiar to the one he made last January. Please just make our year complete and give a Left Back a new home in time for Christmas!

Yours in Celtic
