Soundbites from Manager and Player do Little to Ease Fans Woes.

Gordon Strachan has today insisted that he will not walk away from the Celtic Managers job and stated that he is getting the team ready for next season.

Strachan said: "The future is Motherwell this weekend and I'm preparing for next season as well. I won't clarify that statement because I don't think I need to.

"There's been no soul searching. I analyse my job and the team's performance every week. It's been a frustrating time and I'm well aware the only statistic fans care about is who wins games."

Of course the only statistics we really care about are who wins games, you don't get points unless you win all three points Gordon, and you certainly don't win leagues unless you win all three points.

The next player in a long procession of staff to get wheeled out to tell us that all is not doomed is Lee Naylor. Such is the paucity of talent and fans favourites in team three Strachan has to unleash last seasons cult must have Lee "The Weasel" Naylor to support the notion that we could yet salvage something from this season.

Naylor said: "When I think of the possibility of ending the season with no trophies at all it sends a shiver down my spine. I want the championship so much it's killing me.

"If the Celtic fans don't think it hurts the players to be in this position they should know it does. The cups might have gone but I'mnot thinking about losing the league as well."

Naylor also hinted that Celtic have had little or no fortune in recent weeks stating "We're not getting much luck at the moment but we've got two chances to put that right over the next few days against Motherwell and Rangers. What Rangers have done in the UEFA Cup is good for the Scottish game. You earn your luck in football and they've had their fair share. But there are strong-minded players at Celtic Park and we want to break out of our negative run as soon as possible."

With Rangers out on Scottish Cup duty tomorrow Celtic have a chance to peg down Ranger's lead at the top to four points ahead of next Wednesday's game against the Forces and if we are to have any chance of doing anything this season we must get three points tomorrow and head into the game in mindweek in as best a position to do them damage as we can be.

Yours in Celtic
