He said: "Nakamura is a player I know very well. I have played against him at many big events such as the Olympics and in the Confederation Cup so I have always followed his career.

"He used to have a great partnership with Hidetoshi Nakata and I like them a lot. They have great quality."

News that Derby have pipped West Bromich Albion may have some influence on the Celtic squad for next season. You may remember we told you a couple of weeks ago that Jason Koumas of WBA was interested in a move to Glasgow, but only if WBA failed to stay in the Premiership. We also hear that Strachan is pushing really hard to have all his summer signings in place before pre-season training starts in June.
