SHOCKEROONIE!!! Gers don’t get extra time to prepare for final

Poor old cash-strapped Gers have been told that they will have to play their Euro tie versus Werder Bremen less than 72 hours before they are due to face Dundee United in the league Cup final at Hampden.

In a move that echoes Celtic having to play Rangers less than 72 hours after beating Liverpool at Anfield in 2003, Rangers must face Dundee United less than three days after facing the Germans in the UEFA Cup.

Celtic fans should temper their glee at what would appear to be an unprecedented attempt at parity from the beaks of the SFA as they are not responsible! The reason that the Cup tie must take place on the Thursday is down to Bremen’s TV deal, and not at the request of the SFA.

We expect to hear a few soundbites from Gordon “the political wing of Derek Johnstone” Smith sometime today!

Speaking of Grandmaster Smith, the Chief executive has dropped yet another clanger today! Not content with trying to introduce rules that contravene FIFA regulations to the Scottish game Smith has called for referees to be given peace after matches!

Was it not you Gordon, when you were a 'journalist' who was lobbying for referees to be told to publicly discuss important decisions after football matches? Did you not also suggest that the referees who make the more contentious decisions should be made to face public grillings to explain decisions? Did you not also claim that UEFA had an agenda against Rangers? Gordon, you really are the Prince Phillip of Scottish Football; such is the level of gaffes and contradictions that we have had to endure during your tenure.

Come on Dr John, is it not about time you exposed this guy for what he is.
