Second Romanian Defender Linked With Celtic

Last updated : 08 July 2008 By Clydebuilt

It has been reported that Celtic are interested in a second member of Romania's euro 2008 squad. Last week full back Razvan Rat spoke of his willingness to join the Scottish Champions based on his experiences of Celtic Park in the two occasions that he has played there and now the agent of Auxerre defender Gabriel Tamas are also on the record regarding a possible move to Celtic Park.

"Tamas' agent had this to say "Celtic approached me at the end of the European Championships to tell me they were interested in signing Gabriel," agent Cristian Morosan told The Scottish Sun.

"They aren't the only club who want him. He has options in England, Spain and Romania. But a move to Celtic certainly holds strong appeal to Gabriel.

"He knows they are a massive club who play in the Champions League every year. They have a vast support and on a sporting level would be a big step up for Gabriel.

"He wants to leave Auxerre this summer. He has made that clear.

"It's not down to Gabriel or me though. Right now we have to wait to see if Celtic can reach an agreement with Auxerre."

More on this as we get it.
