Scott Brown: Treble might not be enough

"At the moment, I don't know if the Treble would even make up for this disappointment," said the midfielder. "I'm gutted about that defeat and I think it will nag at me for a while. I'm sure the Celtic supporters will say the same. It will hurt for a while. I'm not going to lie. Winning the Treble would go some way to making up for it, but I won't forget what happened.

The combative Brown has never known a loss quite like the one inflicted by Aalborg in the Group E match "We have had some sore defeats over the last two seasons, but that's been the hardest one to take. Nothing else comes close to it." he said.

Scott and his team-mates will put all the hurt to one side though when they travel to Edinburgh on Sunday. Celtic will arrive at Easter Road looking to continue their outstanding run in the SPL and hoping to extend their winning run to 13 straight games in the competition. "I'm looking forward to Sunday's match," said Brown. "I always enjoy going back to Easter Road and the Hibs fans are good to me. I've always had a good reception there over the last 18 months."

The Celtic midfielder, who is now showing the form which persuaded manager Strachan to sign him in the first place, knows that the title and the accompanying Champions League qualification for next year is the number one priority for the club and they'll be hoping to maintain their seven point lead over the huns.

"The European campaign was a disappointment, but the only thing we can do is to try and get ourselves back in the Champions League again next season." he said "Everyone at the club is determined to achieve that. We need to focus on trying to win the league. That's the main thing, but the cups do take on even more importance as well now."
