Scott Brown: If we don't click on Saturday there's always Wednesday....

Scott Brown hopes the team can silence the critics

As the month of February draws to a close it's frightening to look back and see that Celtic have emerged victors in only one SPL game this year. This quite shocking run of form has seen a healthy seven point lead evaporate, and the Huns leapfrogging into top spot in the table on goal difference, but hopefully today's home match against St Mirren will see the team get back on track in their quest for that fourth consecutive league title.

Scott Brown issued the latest rallying cry from Celtic Park yesterday (not another one! I hear you - but at least it's not Heid again). The midfielder says that they have the quality and spirit to overcome their insipid form of late and it's time to show it. "We were seven points down last season and we came back." he said. "That shows our fighting spirit. We know we have got that so we have to bring it back out. A lot of people have been here for three years, or even longer, and they know what it is about and how to handle the pressure"

The blank-firing forwards have come in for some criticism lately, with only the hard working Scott McDonald managing to get himself on the scoresheet in recent weeks, and the lack of goals must be a concern to the team, but Brown tried to make light of the problem yesterday. "Everyone goes through that, I've gone through it for seven years so I know how it feels." he quipped. "We just need a little bit of luck. If we get that, and score a couple of goals, then we will kick on from there. That's pretty much all we need because we've had the chances and have just been unlucky."

"If you see the lads in training, they are scoring for fun." he continued in a more serious vein "They just need that we bit of luck and hopefully when one of them gets a goal it will continue on. The rest of us need to chip in with goals as well. There's not been a lot of goals from midfield recently so hopefully we can come through and help the lads out. It will come together and hopefully it will be on Saturday but if not, we have a game on Wednesday and we will keep going. The more goals we score, the better it is. Hopefully we can go on an unbeaten run until the end of the season."
