Rasmussen - More of the same

By PA
Monday, 8th February 2010
Morten Rasmussen is hoping the encouraging start to his Celtic career will give him the advantage as boss Tony Mowbray searches for a settled strike force.

The Danish international, signed from Brondby during the January transfer window, got off the mark with a goal at Hamilton last week and scored again in Sunday's 4-2 Active Nation Scottish Cup fifth-round win over Dunfermline at East End Park.

Marc-Antoine Fortune, Georgios Samaras, Diomansy Kamara and Robbie Keane are all also battling for a place up front, and Rasmussen said: "Celtic are a big club, there should be a lot of good players and that is not a problem for me. It is not like you can put 11 strikers on the pitch and score 11 goals but it is good to have a lot of good players. We just have to fight in training to get a place in the team."

Ahead of Wednesday night's Clydesdale Bank Premier League clash with Hearts at Celtic Park, Rasmussen, who cheekily tried to claim Callum Woods' own goal in the cup win, continued: "It is important to score goals when you are new in the team. I am definitely claiming two.

"I was going after the ball and I think I got a little touch as did the defender so I will take the goal and that makes it two!

"But it was important that we won and got through to the next round."
