Petrov. No one else wants him

"I believe we were the only club in for Petrov and I reckon Celtic might find it difficult getting better money than that." Was the quote from Portsmouths Harry Redknapp as Plans to sign Petrov get shelved.

Celtic valued the player at 5 million and Portsmouth have now met that price only for Celtic to refuse it. Strange goings on in Paradise and Celtic's apparent refusal to sell the player at the price they set has got most people very confused indeed.

So is there another bid in the pipeline that we don't know about or has Gordon Strachan persuaded Petrov to stay?. All very interesting and it looks as if there is no middle ground, either Celtic have made a complete backside of the situation or they have pulled off a miracle by either keeping the player and getting his head sorted or have sold him to a higher bidder.
