Peter the Pointer Points to Fixture Build Up to Aid Celtic's Cause.

Former Celtic stalwart Peter "The Pointer" Grant has today stated that the fixture congestion has seen a slight advantage handed to Celtic in the title run in, but warned that Celtic must overturn Rangers at Parkhead tomorrow to have and hope of pulling off a reversal of fortune.#

Grant, who played 361 times for the Club also believes that Rangers sould be a victim of their own success this season, due to the amount of cup ties they are involved in.

"I think the way things went on Sunday, it gives Celtic a chance again. I think Rangers' success is helping Celtic a little bit because they are playing in cup ties.

"If Celtic win on Wednesday it goes back to one point and I always think that gives you something completely different to look at. Even though there are games in hand, people always tell you points in the bag are more important.

"It gives you that bit between the teeth again. It is last-chance saloon, no doubt about that. But it was a great fillip knowing their strikers scored on Sunday."

"I definitely do think it (the criticism of Gordon Strachan] is unmerited but that is the nature of the beast, being Celtic manager, or an

y manager. Whether you have 2,000 people at the match or 62,000 people, they expect you to win every game. Now it's a short-term fix, manager's jobs unfortunately. You are not allowed to build anything. I think (Jose] Mourinho said about Arsene Wenger, he is the only manager in the world who wins no trophies and can keep his job. It's a fair point because even the smallest clubs have unrealistic expectations.

"Celtic have qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League for the last two seasons. When we were at West Ham we made £4.5 million from television before Christmas, and I think Celtic get about £1 million. So trying to attract the best players is very, very difficult.

"So I think we should tipping our hat to him instead of criticising him. He deserves to survive, there is no doubt about that. Unfortunately when you are at the Old Firm, there is no second place."

Wise words Peter, fancy a jersey?

In other news, It would appear that the Sunday Herald has decided to take on a similar veil of tackiness and hyperbole as its midweek equivalent. I nearly chocked on my Cornflakes on Sunday Morning (ok, it was evening) as I read the following comments attributed to the popularity of the current manager.

"Some fans would probably rather have a bead-rattling Hoopy the Huddle Hound in the dug-out"

What? Did I read that correctly? This is 2008 FFS!

Yours in Celtic
