 Stoke boss Tony Pulis is not inclined to up their bid for Celtic target midfielder Joe Ledley. The Wales international was in Glasgow on Friday after passing a medical but has since headed back to Cardiff. He has a four-year deal from Celtic, said to be worth £25k per week, to consider alongside Stoke's offer, said to be worth between £15-£2k per week also for four-years. While Celtic remain favourites to sign Ledley, Pulis, who has long been an admirer of the 23-year-old, insists he will not go out of his way to lure him to the Britannia Stadium. Pulis said: "As far as I was concerned, Joe had signed for Celtic and that was the end of the matter. He came and spoke to us and we left it for them to come back. It is not a case of us chasing after him. I think he is a decent player. He had a bad injury last year which curtailed his form and the amount of appearances he made, but we would like to have him here. But we have made our pitch for him, and if he wants to go to Celtic then we can't do anything about that." Stoke had hoped the lure of the Premier League would tempt Ledley to sign, especially as Cardiff narrowly missed out on a place in the top flight following their play-off final defeat to Blackpool last season. But Pulis claims there will be no hard feelings if Ledley does snub Stoke in favour of a move to Parkhead. He said: "He's a lovely lad. We showed him what we have got and it is up to him to decide. If he decides to go up to Celtic then I wish him all the best." |
