Scotland's Player of the Year Aiden McGeady has admitted that he has struggled to come to terms with the passing of Tommy Burns at an Irish Press conference last night.

Aiden has revealed that he cannot comprehend the loss of the person who he says was a special person in his development not only as a Footballer, but also as a person, stating "I probably wouldn't be where I am today without his help."

McGeady said: "He was the one always taking me aside and telling me, 'Do this, do that'. He was always a big help.

"I remember he said to me at the start of this season, 'This could be the season you go on and win Player of the Year', and with his help I did it.

"I owe him an awful lot. He was always the one to take me aside at training and practice things I could do with help on, like crossing and finishing.

"It's funny, it only seems a couple of months ago he was still out on the training ground."

After the extent of Tommy's illness was revealed to the playing staff, Aiden said that Tommy had put a brave face on it but you could tell he was struggling.

"He came into the training ground and he wasn't looking his best. But that's the thing - he just looked as if nothing bothered him. Clearly, things weren't going well for him but he was still at the training ground having a laugh and things like that."
