O'NEILL MAY APPEAL RED CARDS

Martin O'Neill may be tempted to appeal the red cards handed out to John Hartson and Johan Mjallby at yesterday's old firm game.

The Celtic boss had a good look at the tv replays of the incident and he feels that there may be grounds for an appeal in both cases:

"It was a disappointing end to what was a good game. The
referee didn't call it right from what I have seen. Hartson has come in to
intercede and calm things down. Johan Mjallby had every entitlement to go
for the ball and Ricksen came over, obviously to protect his goalkeeper. So
the referee did well to pick those three from about 108 who were having a
go.

"We did appeal against Alan Thompson's sending-off (against Aberdeen on
March 2, for which the player received a four-match ban) and he's done a
life sentence because the penal system here is so draconian. Kenny Clark is
a very good referee but he might want to take a look at it again."

It will be interesting to see if the SFA will use Video evidence to look into the behaviour of other players involved in the melee who got off scot free. There were others raising their hands out of sight of the referee who should have been punished.

Despite the red cards both Celtic players should be available for the cup final on May the 4th.
