N'Guemo: Maybe we can be as lucky as Arsenal

Landry N'Guemo was one of Celtic's star performers against Arsenal on Tuesday night but he won't have the opportunity to continue his duel with Fabregas and co. after receiving a yellow card in the 57th minute of the first leg tie. "It was a bad decision on Tuesday night," said N'Guemo. "I am disappointed to be missing the game, but I will help my team-mates prepare as well as they possibly can. Do I have any complaints about the booking? Yes, but that is football, it is done and those are the rules. I will watch the second leg next week, but it will be difficult for me. I just hope my team-mates will be okay to get a good result in England. If you don't believe you can get a good result in London, then don't go."

The cash-advantaged side from the EPL may have banked that 2-0 lead from the Glasgow leg alongside their Sky millions but, even so, Landry doesn't think that the gulf in finances was reflected on the field of play. "There wasn't a lot of difference between the teams on the pitch this week." said the man dubbed the Cameroonian Neil Lennon. "Arsenal scored two lucky goals, so we hope we can get two lucky goals in England. Maybe Arsenal will come on to the pitch thinking the job is done. I hope so. If they do then maybe Celtic can catch the opportunity to fight for the result we need."

The hard working N'Guemo has been an instant success in the Hoops and many fans are already clamouring for his loan deal to be made permanent immediately. He reacts very modestly to the praise being showered upon him by pundits and punters alike. "It's the start of the season, so hopefully people are still saying that at the end of the season." he said. "If it is possible to have a permanent deal that would be okay with me. I have to prove to Celtic that I am worth that. Apart from the rain, I have enjoyed it here so far. Glasgow is a nice city and Celtic is a good club to play for."

His former Nancy team-mate Marc-Antoine Fortuné hasn't exactly set the heather alight since arriving in Glasgow but it's very early to make judgements and N'Guemo has no doubts that his friend will prove his worth as the season unfolds. "People only judge strikers by goals." said the Cameroon international. "They don't look at how he is playing. During the season you will see how important Marco is. I speak to Marco all the time and he is still confident. He plays for the team, he is a good guy. He is unlucky not to have scored yet, but it will come soon."
