Martin O'Neill's worst fears were confirmed today, when it was announced that John Mjallby will be out of action for a month. The description of his injury is a torn thigh muscle.

It will put the big Swede out of action for a crucial point in Celtic's season, with games against Stuttgart and Rangers to come.

There is plenty of cover for the injury, with Ulrik Laursen, Stephen Crainey, Tom Boyd and John Kennedy able to slot in at any time.

But it is a blow to Martin O'Neill, who is very fond of the Swedish Internationalist.
