Miller Signs Pre-Contract Agreement

Following days of speculation, Kenny Miller has signed a pre-contract agreement with Celtic. Miller will stay at Wolves until the end of the season, when he will then move to Glasgow to join Celtic. He will be contracted for three years, with Celtic having the option to keep him for another year.

Miller said today, "It is a tremendous honour to have signed for a club of Celtic’s stature. I was fortunate enough to have a number of options, however, when Celtic made their interest known, this was where I wanted to play. Having spoken to Gordon Strachan and the club I am delighted to have committed my future to Celtic."

"I am looking forward immensely to joining my new team-mates in the summer and hope to be able to play my part in bringing further success to Celtic”.

Gordon Strachan added, "Kenny is a quality player and I am delighted to have secured his signing for next season. He is still a young player with his best years ahead of him and I am sure he will be a great addition to our squad from next season onwards. We are pleased Kenny has chosen Celtic as the club where he wishes to continue his career.”

Miller will cost Celtic nothing, and considering he is rated at around £2 Million, it's a good deal by Celtic. But already, there are many Celtic supporters who will obviously never accept the striker as a Celtic player.

Now, whether the reasons for this are that he is a former Rangers player, or that some do not see him as "Celtic class," I really do not know. But I refuse to agree with the prospect of not getting behind a player who will join Celtic, for any reasons.

Miller's past does not bother me one bit. Yes, he played for Rangers but this is simply not an issue. Plenty of other players have crossed the divide and have turned out to be good signings, I am sure Kenny can do the same. Anyone who refuses to accept Miller on the grounds that he used to play for Rangers is an absolute moron.

Kenny Miller is not exactly a big-name, high-profile signing but he is a goalscorer. He has shown this at international level and playing for Wolves in the English Championship. He also has something to prove to the people of Scotland. He did not have the best of times at Rangers, and will be out to prove to his doubters that he can do the business for Celtic.

Whether Miller has been bought as a first choice striker, or as a squad player, I do not know. But he should be given the chance and support that any Celtic player should; welcome to the club Kenny.
