McDonald Uses Weight Jibes to His Advantage

Scott McDonald has rubbished claims that he is overweight and states that he will use the jibes to spur him onto claim his first international goal.

McDonald, who celebrated his goal last week against Hamilton by lifting his top to show his lean torso, hopes that he will break his scoring duck for Australian soon.

"If called upon I can do a job and it would be nice to finally get my first goal for my country," Scott said whilst dreaming of prime meat

"It's been a while in the waiting and I don't really want to wait too much longer." He said whilst waiting to sample the new M burger.

"I didn't take too kindly to suggestions that I was overweight - it's just a load of nonsense, but it's something that inspires you to go out there and chuck it back at them"

"My fitness hasn't been up to scratch, but people have to realise that when you've been out for three to four weeks with a groin injury and before that you've only played two games at the start of the season, you haven't had much game time.

"I can reassure you that everything is fine. My weight is the same as it was last season when I was scoring goals and I'll continue to work hard to get fitter.

"Hopefully that will see me get back to the top of my game and have me scoring goals for my club and country."

This would appear to point to the reason why last years top goalscorer looks like a shadow of his former self (well playing wise) and hopefully he will return to his tenacious best when given the opportunity. His performances this season have been decidedly under par but probably do have more to do with his injury than harsh notion that he had lost his edge once he was awarded his new contract.

A fully fit Scott McDonald is an asset to any team and I hope he refinds his work ethic and eye for goal soon.
