Scott McDonald
Celtic's top scorer last season
Scott McDonald has proved that he can do the business in the Champions League proper and that fact has not gone unnoticed by his fellow Aussie Luke Wilkshire. The Dinamo defender knows that hit-man Skippy has scored against the biggest clubs in Europe's elite competition and he'll be urging his team-mates not to underestimate the wee man's prowess.

"I get on really well with Scott and I'm sure he'll fancy his chances of scoring against us," Wilkshire said."He is a natural goalscorer and has scored against Milan and Manchester United when both were European champions, so that tells you about his quality. We will just need to make sure we are prepared for him."

Celtic's first competitive match of the season will see them face a side who are already well into their domestic league competition, having played fifteen games already, but the Aussie defender refused to accept that it would necessarily be an advantage to his club.

"We are almost halfway through the season now and doing well." he said. "We're only four points off the top of the table. There are eight teams up there fighting and we are among that group. You could say we have an edge against Celtic because we are well into our season but you could also say they will be fresh coming back from their break. There are two ways to look at everything but we are confident in our ability to win this tie."

Scott McDonald himself thinks that his international buddy and his Muscovite mates are in for a torrid time at Celtic Park on Wednesday. "I won't be giving too much away to him but I'm sure he will be in for a hell of a time at Parkhead," McDonald said. "For me this is a Champions League game, even though I know it's technically a qualifier. It's top European opposition we are playing and these are the games you want to be recognised as the man who helps you qualify. Wednesday will go a long way to deciding if we are good enough to go through."
