Celtic have today stated that Massimo Donati is not for sale. The talented midfielder whose lack of guile has annoyed many fans this season was a transfer target of Italian side Sampdoria but it has been hinted at today that Gordon Strachan does not want the player to leave.

Donati's agent Andrea D'Amico revealed that clubs in Italy are keen on the 27-year-old and Atalanta and Sampdoria were among those who had expressed an interest.

Sampdoria general manager Beppe Marotta expressed the club's position as regards a move for the Celtic star last night.

Marotta said: "The player seems willing to come here but the problem is Celtic want too much money. At the moment the price they want is incredible."

It is felt that Celtic have applied a large fee to the player in order to warn off potential suitors.

In other news, Artur Boruc continues to be linked to AC Milan but the Italian giants could be put off by Boruc's 10M price tag. Manager Carlo Ancelotti has stated publicly that he was interested in the Polish no1. "I wanted to bring Boruc to Milan about a year ago but now the price is too high," said Ancelotti. "Milan cannot afford Boruc. We made some efforts but it did not happen and now I have three goalkeepers, in any case."

Milan general manager recently hinted that Milan would rekindle their interest in the Holy Goalie when Milan Executive Ariedo Braida stated that the Celtic No1 was a priority signing for the club, saying: "Boruc is a wonderful goalkeeper, he has been incredible for the last couple of years."We are going to lose Dida, possibly Zeljko Kalac, so we need to bring in a new one. Boruc has a big price tag, £10m is a lot of money, but I cannot exclude anything."

It could be that Ancelotti's admission regarding the price tag could see Milan turn their attention to other goalkeeping targets. Here's hoping!

Yours in Celtic
