Marshall: Disastrous Debut
Celtic goalkeeper David Marshall has today spoken out after a fairly disastrous Scotland debut in which Scotland were subjected to a humiliating 3-0 home defeat at the hands of Hungary.

Marshall was surprisingly announced as a starter in Berti Vogt's line-up, beating Hearts' Craig Gordon and recent Norwich signing Paul Gallgher to the Number 1 jersey.

I feel Marshall is too young for a Scotland call-up. Even though it was only a friendly, Scotland still got humped and Marshall played the full game. He should be concetrating on perfecting his game at Celtic before he goes wandering into the international scene.

Despite losing three goals, Marshall was impressive in goal, making a couple of class saves. Hungaray's first goal came from the penalty spot, their second was an unstoppable screamer and the third went down as a Marshall own goal, despite Super Stephen Pressely blasting the ball off the young 'keeper.

Marshall spoke of the game today, saying, "My confidence is fine and this won't affect me at all. It was a disappointing result but hopefully we can make up for it in the Spain game. I felt fine before the game. The national anthems took quite long, I think the CD player was broken, but once the game started I was fine. I spoke to Rab (Douglas) in the afternoon and he said he would be there to watch the game"

It will be interesting to see who Bonkers Berti picks in goal for Scotland's next game, he should go with Marshall if he has picked him already. But knowing the German, Jim Leighton could probably be in with a shout of a call-up.
