 Rangers might well clinch the SPL title on Sunday for a second successive season, but Neil Lennon is not about to let them win it without kicking a ball tomorrow. Interim boss Lennon leads his side to Tannadice for Sunday's lunchtime kick-off knowing that if Rangers win at Easter Road later in the day, the championship is officially over. However, if Celtic do not beatt United - a draw would leave them 10 points behind with three games remaining - Rangers can start celebrating as soon as the final whistle is blown at Tannadice. Lennon, whose side can secure second place with a fifth successive SPL win, said: "We have to win the game at Tannadice for our own reasons, plus you want Rangers to have to go to Easter Road and get a result. We want to prolong it as long as we can but we are just thinking about winning our game. Dundee United have had an excellent season, more than excellent, actually. I watched them again last week when they scored three goals at Motherwell and they are a very good team. They are confident, they all know their jobs and Peter Houston has done a brilliant job as manager since Craig Levein left earlier in the season. We haven't won there since we won the league there in 2008 so that is an incentive for us and so we will be going there as positive as we can." Celtic may appear to have bounced back from their Active Nation Scottish Cup semi-final loss to Ross County but Lennon is well aware that his players cannot relax as potential trouble is never far away. The Irishman said. "I am not getting too carried away with the four league wins in a row. I expected that from the players with the quality that we have and I expect them to go to Tannadice with a positive frame of mind. If we keep winning games it will help my position, that's unquestionable. The flip side of that is that if we lose, it puts me in another precarious position so we have to keep winning games." |
