Macca: - Celtic Fans Will Love Mowbray's Football Style.

Celtic Fans favourite Frank McAvennie believes that Tony Mowbray is the ideal candidate for the Celtic hot-seat, because of the style of play that the former centre half brings to a club.

Renowned for his team's attractive style of football, Mowbray would bring a much needed brand of cavaliering football long since absent at Celtic in the last few years.

"I'm delighted with the prospect of Tony becoming boss because I've watched a lot of his team down south and they've played some great stuff."

"He gets average players to look good and that's what Celtic need - someone to encourage players to get the ball down and up to the frontmen quicker than previously."

He said: "I think Tony will get the ball down. The fans love to see fast-flowing football and I'm looking forward to it.

"But wait until he signs first. Knowing Celtic, it could change by the hour."

Frank, like many a Celtic fan, was of the opinion that the entertainment on show during Gordon Strachan's reign at the Club left a lot to desire.

"I don't think anyone will say it was nice football," McAvennie said. "The fans weren't happy with the way the game was getting played.

"I don't know if it was Gordon's fault or the board's fault but it was not good to watch.

"First and foremost fans want to see football played the right way and that wasn't happening with Gordon's side, certainly in the last 18 months.

"In his first two years he did all right but after that everything was played across the park and it was pretty woeful to watch."
