Loan star Ferry in no hurry to return to Celtic

Swindon Town are hoping to persuade Celtic to extend Simon Ferry's loan deal until the end of the season after some impressive displays from the 21 year-old midfielder. Ferry himself is enjoying his stay with the League One side and relishing first-team football after losing three years of his fledgling career to injury. The player has finally convinced himself that his injury hell is a thing of the past and now he's set his sights on playing a major role for the Robins as they strive to reach the League One play-off final at Wembley.

"The play-off final is at Wembley, so that would be a brilliant way to end the season if I'm still here." said Ferry. "I've played almost every game so far and I'd be up for staying for the rest of the campaign. But we'll need to see what Celtic say. There's no reason why we can't reach the play-offs.

"Imagine it." he said. "Me scoring in the final at Wembley? That would be very decent, but we'll see what happens. I've already played there this season and it would be amazing to get us up to the Championship."

Ben Hutchinson is also on loan to the Wiltshire club and the Parkhead delegation is further enhanced by the presence of ex-Celts Jon-Paul McGovern and Scott Cuthbert. "I'm loving it down here." said Celtic's number 53. "The boys have all been brilliant with me from day one. On the first day of training they decide a lookalike for you and I ended up with a picture of Mrs Doubtfire on my locker. I can't say who Ben got though. The fans have been brilliant with me too. I've heard them say I'm the best-looking player Swindon have ever had!"

One of the highlights of Ferry's career so far was scoring the goal that clinched the Reserve League title at Ibrox last season but he acknowledges that League One football is a big step up. "I enjoyed playing for Celtic reserves, but League One is much more demanding." he said. "In one month we played six games and the pace of every match is so quick. When I arrived it took me by surprise. After 20 minutes I was shattered. I had to take a five-minute breather, hide for a bit and get my breath back. But I'm used to it now and I'm feeling stronger. If you don't do well you get slaughtered because there's so much at stake every week."
