Lenny on Boruc Injury and Hartley's Contract Status

Neil Lennon has today stressed that Celtic hope to have the services of Goalkeeper Artur Boruc back in the team for the trip to Denmark. The game against Aalborg is certainly not a must win but it is definitely a must not lose game

"That's what we are looking for" Neil said in relation to Arturs comeback. "We are hoping to have him back maybe a week before the Aalborg game, providing the surgery goes well."

Neil was also quick to support Boruc's deputy Mark Brown who, in his opinion, is an ideal candidate to replace the talismanic Boruc.

"Whatever he had to do he done well on Saturday," said Neil

"It must be frustrating to come in, work your socks off and, if Artur is fit, know there isn't going to be a game for him at the end of the week. But he prepares as well as any pro here and has always done over the years.

"You could see that with his performance during the game and he kept a clean sheet as well which is a huge bonus for him.

In other news Lennon is fully supportive of the notion that Paul Hartley should have his Celtic Park stay extended. Hartley is in the final year of his contract and Lennon is supportive of the notion that Zico should have his contract extended

"He is enjoying the responsibility now and he is regarded as a senior pro by the rest of the lads," Lennon told Celtic TV.

"I thought he took the game by the scruff of the neck on Saturday just before half-time and then in the 20-minute period after the break.

"He is enjoying playing and the fact he has been here for a few years now means he has grown into that role.

"He is complementing Scott Brown and Barry Robson unbelievably.

"I think he is one of those pros who wants to prove a point every time he plays. I didn't know that his contract was up but there will be an extra bit of hunger there to extend his stay here because I think he is enjoying himself. Most of the players are.

"When you are at a club like this and you are winning week in, week out, you get used to that mentality. I think he might want to hang around a little bit longer.

"If he keeps performing like he did on Saturday I don't think he will have a problem."

Yours in Celtic
