Lawwell Confirms Naka Exit Story

Last updated : 15 September 2008 By Clydebuilt
Peter Lawwell has this morning confirmed that Shunsuke Nakamura is looking to leave Celtic in the January transfer window. However Lawwell his stated that he will do everything he can to keep Naka here until the end of the season.

The confirmation that this story is true has me a bit despondent for more than one reason. Losing the Japanese Genius notwithstanding the concerning aspect of this is the fact that this story was broken by a man that supposedly never represented Nakamura. This is the man who the Club stated did not have anything to do with the player after he made comments in relation to a rumoured get-out clause early last year. So obviously Tommaso Angelini has more to do with Nakamura than Celtic would have us believe.

Lawwell said "Celtic would be more than happy for Shunsuke to stay here for as long as he wants and certainly we want him to remain here until the end of the season. "But his agent has intimated Shunsuke would like to return to Japan at some point."

Let us hope we can keep the Japanese Genius till the end of the season and that Naka goes away with his fourth medal in a row!

Yours in Celtic
