LAMBERT CONSIDERING VOGTS APPROACH

Last updated : 12 March 2002 By
Paul Lambert is actively considering coming out of of international retirement to give Scotland a chance to qualify for the 2004 European Championship.

The Celtic midfielder, who retired from the International scene last year, said:

"I have spoken to Berti Vogts but we will have to wait and see what happens. "I really don't know. There are a lot of things I have to think through. I will speak to Martin O'Neill and other people who are close to me this week."

Lambert is now 32 and a return to International football would surely be a backward step at his age. However, the situation does highlight the dearth of talent available to Scotland boss Vogts.
