Kick off is upon us! 5 goals needed to go top

So here we are, finally! The season is upon us and thankfully the close season is now closed! The Bairns are top of the SPL this morning after there 4-0 rout of new boys Gretna so as long as Celtic score 5 today all will be fine with the world!

Easier said than done however!

I always love the first game back at Parkhead, the buzz of expectation, wanting to see if that player whom impressed you in pre-season really is as good as he appeared and also hoping that old failures come good in the style of Bobby "Lazarus" Petta. The only problem with that is I am having to work overtime today and will be spending my afternoon in a wet field in Balloch!

Please don't post the score until I get to see the replay!

I think the team today will write itself, with the only doubts being whom will partner McManus in defence and whom will partner JVH up front? I would go with Kennedy and Magic respectively to have a team something like this:

Brown

Wilson Kennedy McManus Naylor

Donati

Hartley McGeady

Brown

Magic JVH

It would appear that Wattie's dignified 'Bung'lers (which is my official name for them for season 2007-08) got themselves off to a flyer yesterday with a three nil win a Inverness. The only problem with that however is that should the SFA follow through on their points deduction sanctions for sectarian signing then they will have negative points!

Im sure Gordon Smith will be writing to SDM as we speak to invite him to a disciplinary meeting at Hampden. Not!

The full repertoire of the usual songs was there for all to hear yesterday, but the most contemptible had to be their defamation of the late great Jock Stein, made all the worse by the fact that his widow Jean passed away this week!

RIP Jean, tell Jock we said Hail Hail!

Yours in Celtic
