Keane the difference

By Grahame Greeen
Saturday, 13th March 2010
Different views on the game but Keane is still the man they want to talk about

Manager Tony Mowbray admitted he was not happy after a lacklustre opening 45 minutes. He said: "The first half wasn't good enough really and we made the players aware of that at half-time and thankfully we found the right formula to get the right result. We needed to be better and we were. Ultimately this team has to find standards that are very, very high and sustain them for 90 minutes."

M
owbray had cautious words of praise for Keane, who has now scored eight goals in eight games. The Hoops boss said: "The bottom line is that it is a team thing but Robbie stuck the ball in the back of the net and we're thankful he's doing that." For his part, Keane played down his role in the win, saying: "The most important thing is getting the win and getting into the next round. The first half we didn't play well and the manager said a few things and we were better in the second half. I believe in my own ability - that if I get chances I'll score goals."

Meanwhile, home manager Jimmy Calderwood lamented the missed opportunities which saw Killie hit the woodwork twice before Celtic scored. Jimmy liked what he saw of Keane's ability but did not enjoy the impact he had on his side's progression in the cup.
Calderwood said: "That's what has cost us - the quality of the finishing. He's (Keane) a joy to watch but it'd be better if was in your team."
