Injury updates ahead of Shakhtar showdown

Artur Boruc has today vowed to be fit in time for tomorrow nights must win match against Shakhtar Donetsk.

The Polish Keeper who picked up a mystery toe problem on international duty, initially fought to be athletes foot reckons he will be alright on the night after a few extra days off.

Artur said, "I have a problem with my toes. It started after Poland's Euro 2008 qualifier against Belgium in Chorzow last weekend. I was really cold there.

"I had my toenails cut before the game on Saturday but in the warm-up, I wasn't able to kick the ball. So I decided to give up the idea of playing.

"There was no sense in playing just four days before the Shakhtar game because, with two toes aching, I couldn't play at my normal level.

"I need two or three days to be ready for the Champions League. I think I will be ready."

Artur also stated that he will have surgery this summer after exacerbating a knee complaint during Poland's 2-0 triumph over Belgium, which sealed their Euro 2008 qualification.

The 27-year-old - who sat out the draw with Serbia four days later - claimed: "I need a repair in the summer for my knee."

Make sure you get it sorted Artur.

Other injury worry Paul Hartley is also expected to recover in time for this match.
