Hasselbaink gone. good news or bad?

The statement from Peter Lawwell today saying “We tried all we could to sign Jimmy but unfortunately it wasn't to be. We wish him all the best.” Has been greeted with mixed feelings in Celtic circles. Reports of JFH becoming one of Celtic's best paid players had a few fans sweating at the thought of paying 40k a week for a 34 year old player. Gordon Strachan's need for a "box office" signing has still not been fulfilled and he failure of JFH to sign might leave Celtic withn the extra funds to secure Kadlec who yesterday gave celtic 24 hours to do a deal.

Celtic have said to willing to put their hands in their pockets for a £6 million pound player if Petrov gets moved on and the Manager can identify a player who would fit into his plans. Perhaps there is time yet for the box office signing that has been mentioned so often.

Celtic supporters have been split down the middle over Hasselbaink and the failure of the deal will not be too hard to take for the celtic faithful.
