The former Leicester midfielder is determined to be available for Celtic's next game, at Hearts a week on Sunday.
“One of the reasons I ended up out was because it was such a big game and I was so desperate to be fit for it," he admitted. "I think I overdid it a bit and finished up worse off and my back ended up going into spasms.
“It was disappointing but it feels a lot better now. I was disappointed to miss out on the Old Firm match at the weekend, but injuries are part and parcel of the game.
“It was frustrating, especially since it was such a great game, but hopefully I’ll be involved in other Old Firm matches this season.
“I’m back running and when the rest of the lads come back from international duty I’m hoping to be able to join in full training.
“At the minute I’m hoping to be fit for the Hearts game at Tynecastle, but we’ll have to see how it goes between now and then.”
