Get There Early!

Recent congestion problems on entering Celtic Park look to be causing the club a lot of trouble.

Last week, a letter was sent out to all who will be attending tonight's Champions League game against AC Milan, urging fans to arrive early. It requested that supporters be in their seats at least 30 minutes before the kick off (kick off 7.45pm). All who are inside the stadium before 7.15pm will be entitled to a free pie and hot drink.

Punk legends The Undertones will be playing for the Celtic Park crowd at 7pm.

From what we hear, the congestion problems encountered at recent Champions League matches versus Barcelona and Shakhtar Donetsk has forced UEFA and Strathclyde Police to threaten to reduce the capacity of the ground. Fans' safety is being put at a risk and Celtic are engaging in some pretty desperate measures to beat the congestion trouble.

New turnstiles were installed the week prior to the Barcelona game. There was trouble entering the ground, particularly in the North Stand section of the stadium, and has been ever since. There is obviously a problem with the new turnstile system, as no one has encountered trouble like this in the last eight years or so at Parkhead.

I will be there early tomorrow night, like I was at the Barca and Shakhtar games. However, like these games, I expect to be stuck in a queue for around half an hour as I watch the hundreds of clueless police officers and stewards, who are forced to make human chains around the entrances to the ground.

I urge all fans travelling to tonight's game to arrive early and be patient. It will be our final Champions League match of the season and I'd like to take-in the pre-match build up and be involved in what I hope will be a fantastic atmosphere.

Plus I want to see The Undertones!
