Dida gate fan to be sentenced today

The Celtic 'fan' who endangered our European ambitions and tarnished the great reputations of the Celtic support will today hear his fate as he is brought before a Judge in Glasgow.

Labourer Robert McHendry (27) from Cambuslang ran onto the pitch to 'celebrate' Scott McDonalds winning goal in the tie against AC Milan at Parkhead.

Single father McHendry ran up to Milan goalkeeper Nelson Dida, after running on the Parkhead pitch, and made contact with the player before disappearing back into the crowd.

After briefly chasing after the fan, the Brazilian collapsed theatrically to the ground before being stretchered off with an ice pack against his face.

Thankfully UEFA saw the simulation by Milan's Dida as a more severe crime than a breach of pitchside security. And despite SFA Chief Executive Gordon Smith's best attempts to enrage footballs governing body by accusing them of having an agenda against one of his member clubs sanity prevailed and Celtic were fined £25, 000 with half of that amount deferred for two years.

Rumours that Dida has 'claimed' McHendry to a square go outside the court are unconfirmed at this time!

Yours in Celtic
